A really good idea executed with panache that should reunite many a forgetful owner with their car.
£2.47/$3.99 Radar-style vehicle finder
The basic premise of this app is as follows: you park your car in an unfamiliar car park So you reach for your handset, tap Car Locator and log your present location using your phone's GPS.
Then, when you return to the car park you simply switch i: on again and a handy green arrow points you in the right direction to find it again. The design is a bit full on, there's even a radar-style graphic to show the location of the vehicle, but the real win is that this app is really effective at doing exactly what it says it does.
You don't have to use it for cars, either. There's a number of people out in this crazy world that use it for geocaching, which is essentially treasure hunting with GPS.
The only time the app got confused was when we parked five stories up. It showed us where the car was but didn't exactly tell us it was elevated - and we don't expect it would work too well underground either. A relatively minor snag, but it could probably do with another box to let you enter more information.
