Early days for this music community app, but will be vital when discounts and exclusives are available.
Free Strictly for the gig addicts
Foursquare may have not been the first location-based app but it was the one that made the idea of telling people where you are popular. The app may treat itself as a game, but the way Foursquare works is pure bragging rights Then there is the fact that by checking into certain establishments you can get discounts and the like.
Flowd takes this concept and dilutes it into a simple, but interesting idea: tell other music fans what gigs you are going to and get discounts in the process.
Well that's the idea. At the moment, Flowd is merely a meeting place for like-minded music lovers.
The main problem with the app (which is titchy) is that it feels very exclusive at the monent. The amount of artists using it is rather thin but there's still a community to feel to Flowd. Admittedly, Flowd is bound to get better over time and when the discounts and promotions start flowing in,the app will be worth its weight in gold.
At the moment, though, Flowd is for those who are into learning more about musicians and keeping track of their movements, which is great for fans, less compelling for those with just a passing interest.
