The easiest way for Mac users to create galleries is through iPhoto. PC users should create them through the MobileMe web interface.
If you want to share your photos with family of friends, you can post them directly to the web from an iPhone using MobileMe's web gallery features. This can be done through MobileMe's web interface on both the Mac or PC, while Mac users also have the option of posting from iPhoto, which comes with all new Macs and is found in the iLife suite.
If you meet all of these requirements, you will already have a MobileMe email address. Use these details to set up a new email account in the iPhone's Mail application and the Photos application will use the details you supply to link your iPhone to the associated web space.
You now need to put your iPhone to one side and switch to iPhoto 08 or later on your Mac or MobileMe in a browser. We will deal with iPhoto first. Select a range of images and click on the 4- icon at the bottom of the screen. This brings up a window through which you can gather the images together in an album, print them in a book or as an individual photo, or publish them online in a web gallery. It is this latter feature that interests us here.
Click on the Web Gallery icon, give the new gallery a name, check the box beside Allow photo uploading by email, and then click on Publish. If you would rather create galleries through the browser, log in to your MobileMe account, click on the photo icon at the top of the screen (a sunflower) and then the + button at the bottom to create a new album. Give it a name, tick the box to allow adding of photos via email or iPhone and then click on create.
Done all that? Good. You have now jumped through all the hoops you need to start publishing from your iPhone.
Return to your phone and open the Photos application. Navigate to the album from which you want to post to your newly created Web Galleries and pick the appropriate images. When they are displayed, tap the Action icon in the bottom left-hand corner and tap Send To Web Gallery on the menu that appears. The iPhone will interrogate your MobileMe account and call up a list of available galleries to which you can post then you tap to select.
If the next scrccn looks familiar, it is because you arc quietly transported to the Mail application. iPhone automatically fills in the necessary details for the recipient address, which will add it to the gallery, and a suggested subject line, although this is usually far from descriptive. This subject will be used as the title of the image when it is posted to the gallery, so you may want to change it to something more meaningful.
