Dictionary.com - android

Extremely useful, featured filled and absolutely free dictionary with a thesaurus thrown in too.

Free Word up
If you don't need Dictionary.com then you are a word genius. The website has been around since the internet began, offering information about every word imaginable - okay, not ever/ word, but Urban Dictionary .

Yes, the site is American, which means that US spellings are the norm, but this app is more about explaining what words mean, not how to spell them.

The interface for the app is sparse, but the features within the apo are impressive. There's voice to text search (it's Shazam for word lovers) and there are also things like phonetic and audio descriptions to tell you how to say a word.

Couple this with word origin and history, and a feature to save your favourite words, and what you have is a great app for those who aren't able to access a dictionary.

What we also liked - other than passable download size - is that there is a thesaurus included, alongside a word of the day widget. We'll admit it - it's the little things.

It might not be the sexiest app in the world, but you will come back to Dictionary.com more than most.
