MoneyManager

Admittedly basic, but knuckles down to the job of keeping tabs on your finances with gusto.

Free No frills number-cruncher

Well this app is free, which is a good start to keeping your finances under control. And it's just as well this is free, for how simple it is.

Start it up and you're faced with a screen offering three options: Incoming Payments, Outgoing Payments, and Overview. And it's all pretty self  explanatory - enter what's coming into your account with the first (by selecting categories from a drop down menu), how much you're spending and what on with the second option, and then the third gives you a breakdown of the difference between the two.

We'd advise crossing your fingers and saying a little prayer before you hit this third option.

Some of the categories are a little bizarre (Disco? And as an Incoming Payment as well as Outgoing) and only shows amounts in dollars, but the option to add your own category is a nice touch, so if you're dropping a bomb on clothes every month you can account for that.

It's not the most advanced accounting app out there, without the ability to set up regular payments like Direct Debits, but it's a decent calculator and is handy for giving you an overview of where you should cut down on the spending.
