The action takes place via three interfaces.
There's a close-up map used for exploring, and the world map provides an expanded view from where the party can travel between locations and randomly get involved in battles.
When this happens, the action changes to the battle window, where party members can be allocated tasks such as attack, use magic, defend, and so on. It's a classic game that's most entertaining.
