iphone 4 - Twitter

FREE Tweetie turns official : Twitter

Previously, Tweetie was our favourite Twitter client to use on the iPhone, but updates had slowed and it started to be left behind by other, more fully featured Twitter clients. Until, that is, Twitter itself decided to buy it and turn it into the iPhone's official Twitter a pp.

As you'd expect from the official app, its support for some of Twitter's more advanced features is very robust. You can, for example, opt invisibly to tag each tweet you write with your location - just tap the little icon that shows the remaining characters in a tweet composition window - so everyone can see where you're tweeting from. It's a great way of getting a flavour for what's going on around you, at a gig, a show, or just in everyday life. In Twitter for iPhone's search window, for example, you can tell it to display nearby tweets on a map,

Of course, there's support for uploading to picture services, auto-shortening URLs, multiple accounts (with easy ways of switching between them), Lists, built-in viewing of your Favstar.fm profile and the new native retweets. You now need a good reason not to choose the official app.
