Labyrinth 2
£2.99/$4.99 Rolling the shiny ball
We suspect the original Labyrinth - in which you tilted the iPhone to send a steel ball from the start to the finish of a wooden maze - was the gaming equivalent of Marmite. You either loved it or hated it. If you loved it, you'll thoroughly adore the sequel.
For one, it's faster than ever, especially running on the iPhone 4's A4 processor.

Everything looks so much more polished in high resolution, from the dapper new interface to the laser beams and the chromed balls at the heart of the action.
Tilting accentuates the 3D tweaks the developers have applied to the wooden playing board - which you'll see a lot of, given that there are around 200 single-player levels, ranging from easy to incredibly difficult. Throughout the game, there's plenty to make your task harder, including buffers, fans, cannons, moving walls and magnets, as well as pinball-style kickers and slingshots for extra randomness. There are plenty of achievements to keep the challenge interesting, and a new multiplayer mode over local networks adds an extra element of fun to proceedings. You can even design your own board if you so wish.
This iteration offers so much variety that there really is something for everyone. It's exactly the sort of game that the iPhone was made for and we wholeheartedly recommend it!
