News Republic is a really good case study for how news-gathering apps should be created for the Android Market.There's no hassle with the app once you load it up, all you get is a massive amount of feeds all customised in a great-looking interface.
There's so many feeds to choose from that you are spoilt for choice with whatever category takes your fancy. News Republic has feeds from Sports, Business, Technology, Celebrity and Entertainment available. Each of these feeds are packed
with well-known news sites. What we did find was the app does try to squeeze too much stuff in to the app. Although it is just 806k in size, News Republic is a portal to a whole host of web content out there. This is great but there is so much information on the screen sometimes that it is difficult to switch from one story to the other.
The customisation of the app means it is a winner, though, as you can create your own news channel filters that cater to your personal taste.
While Pulse may just top this app for sheer ease of use, News Republic is a smarter than average news reader for your Android smartphones.
