A generally worthwhile idea that suffers from some conspicuously poorly executed page design.
Free Average news app
Collating information from the Google News RSS feed, the Flash News app keeps you up to date with breaking stories from around the world. With its search engine aggregating millions of pieces of information every single day it is no wonder that Google has become a vital resource for news-gathering.
Flash News tries to tap into this, by offering a number of the feeds in one handy app. While it sounds enticing, the reality leaves a lotto be desired.
It's also hardly original and many will be tempted to Just go to the mobile version of Google News (or one of the more superior news sites or apps) which is cleanly presented. However, Flash News does give you a good overview over all the news. The app splits information into four main news categories: Top News. Business, World and Entertainment.
Flicking through each of these categories is lightening quick and so is the loading time for the actual articles.
Because of the page furniture, though, the articles tend to be presented in tiny text, making
them a touch difficult to read. This is rather unfortunate. You do get an image and embedded links which is a bonus and there is even the option to share the article with a social network. Another negative is that your phone's battery will be put under considerable strain under this app. Even though it automatically shuts down feed refreshing when the battery gets too low, the effect it has before this point is a little off-putting and arguably far too late. Flash News for Android is a great idea.
It's just a shame that it's one which isn't quite fully realised and one that isn't quite compelling enough to recommend wholeheartedly.
