Sky Mobile Sports

Free Browser-like sport app

Though not affiliated in any way with Sky, this application provides a lot of the features and coverage you'd expect from to find on a Sky Sports app. It offers the latest general sports headlines as a feed, as well as a number of different: feeds with news from individual sports - however, sports aside from football, cricket and rugby are grouped into an 'Others' feed. If you want to read a story, just tap on it and it will load in a new page - basically it operates just like a browser.

Some media content does require the Adobe Flash player though, so you'll have to make sure you have that installed.

Once up and running, you can can make changes to the background
colours in the main app and the feed reader too, making the whole thing a bit more personalised.

Though, the information is pretty decently presented, our biggest complaint about the app is that, when you tap them, the news stories don't open in a mobile version of the web page. Instead, the full version of the web page opens, which isn't exactly helpful.

The problem with full-blown websites on your mobile is not so much that they take ages to download, it's that they don't fit very well on the phone's screen. Still, if you can put jp with that - and you're into one of the key sports covered - you'll no doubt find this app rather useful, especially for quickly flicking through the latest headlines .
