Taking superb shots with a tablet camera

Taking photos to share with friends and family is simple with the Samsung Galaxy Tab's camera .

If you have a smartphone with a camera, you might already take a lot more photos than you otherwise would. Of course, you may carry a higher quality dedicated digital camera around with you for important occasions, but for ad hoc photos it's likely that your smartphone does the job nicely.

Well, your Android tablet may also have a camera, and this opens up a whole new world of possibilities. If it has a flash, then you might be able to take good photos in low light conditions, but even if it doesn't you may still find yourself using the camera fairly regularly.

One of the main reasons for taking pictures with your tablet is its big display. It's a far more pleasurable experience viewing images on this than your smartphone's smaller screen. You can use your own photos as wallpaper too, so if, for example, you have a particular family snap or favourite holiday shot, you can put it on the home screen and have it constantly on view. And because it's easy to change, you can swap pictures as often as you like.

It isn't just about the photos themselves either. In the Android Market you will find lots of different apps for having fun with your snaps. Some can be used to edit photos, applying filters or distortion effects, while others will annotate your images, adding text and pictures. A lot of these apps are free, and offer a great opportunity for you to have fun with photos without having to pay through the nose for the privilege. And because your Android tablet is a connected device, by SIM and via Wi-Fi, you are able to share photos, either as you took them or after you've finished editing them. You can attach photos to emails, send them as SMS messages, or upload them to Websites such as Flickr or Picasa; once there, you can share them with friends and family, no matter where they are.

Some tablets come with image editing or other camera related applications on board. Our Samsung GalaxyTab has a Digital Frame application, for example, which you can use to deliver a slideshow of images to the screen, immediately turning the tablet into a digital picture frame.

So, suddenly the presence of a camera lens on your Android tablet opens up a whole new world of possibilities for you to get creative, have fun and share your work with other people.

To really get the most out of your Android tablet's camera, you'll have to explore the Market and see what is on offer, but doing so could provide you with plenty of new opportunities.
