There's nothing better than getting lost in a good book to escape from the world around you. But some of the greatest books can be weighty tomes and not something you wart to carry around with you.

This Classics app takes the best of the text world and puts it on the iPhone, so your favourite texts can be with you wherever you are. The interface is very cute - you're greeted w th a bookshop-style shelf furnished with lots of titles and to get to the one you want, you simply scroll by using your finger.

We picked The Time Machine by H G Wells and were very pleased to find that the app's quirkiness is carried through to the texts themselves. To read the book, you flip through the pages with your finger like you would do if it were paper.

You can bookmark the text with a red ribbon that is also visible when the book is placed back on the bookcase. Should you select that book again, it'll open up on that page again.

If you don't want to flip through the paces with your finger there is a shortcut in the form of a more basic chapter listing, but we felt being able to read a text more like an actual book adds to the experience.
