Appsfire

A handy means of filtering and identifying the right sort of apps to download for your smartphone.

Free App-finding wizard

Appsfire is something that is desperately needed on the Android Market. Before the fairly recent web update to the Android store, finding applications for your smartphone was one hell of a nightmare.

Appsfire works by taking a look at what applications you have downloaded on to your smartphone then matches this to apps that you don't yet own.

The app itself is 1.6MB in size and, once loaded, takes a few seconds to analyse the data on your phone. Once this is done it then fetches applications for you to give the virtual thumbs up or down to.

The app is split into categories, the most important being Apps For You and it also gives you real-time information about what's hot on the Android Market at the moment.

While the recommendations aren't pitch perfect, it is a great way to
coincidental^, is alsc the price on the Android Market now.

However, it is seriously good for those of us who need to work out convoluted maths equations cnline and find out information like the GDP of a certain city. This is what makes Wolfram Alpha great: it thinks outside of the box to bring you a mountain of interesting facts.

Type in 'London' and it will give you a whole host of factual nuggets. Students, scientists and mathematicians will find a lot of value here. The only problem is that you need to know how to use it properly to get the most out of it and there is nothing to help you with this.

If you already use Wolfram Alpha frequently, though, this is the way to take all that knowledge on the move. So :he amount being charged represents something of a steal, but $50? No way.n
Size: 1.4MB
filter through the crap and find apps you would never have known existed.

And the best thing about Appsfire is that it offers up some great deals on apps, that you won't actually find on Android Market.

In short: until Google sorts out its filter system, Appsfire is a decent barometer for software to pimp out your smartphone.
