we're always dubious when an app offers supremely cheap calls to anywhere in the world, but Cheap Calls Abroad does just that and delivers in spades. It's able to do so because it routes the call through the web, bringing VoIP to your Android device.
For example, you can phone Vietnam for just 7p a minute using 3G, and it will cost you the same to send an SMS.
You get 15 minutes of free calls upon installing the app and registering, as well as 15 free text messages. You fund further phone calls and messages
through your Cheap Calls Abroad account, by adding your credit or debit card details.
Alternatively, you can use the service through a Wi-Fi connection and the call will be absolutely free.
Unfortunately,the app doesn't give you pricing information or other help - you have to track this down yourself on the web.
The service lives in your phone's contacts, so is quick and simple to use. Browse a contact and you're given the option to call through Cheap Calls Abroad.
We did suffer the occasional freeze, tut overall it works exceptionally well and is a worthy rival to the likes of Google iCall.
