If you're the sort of person who likes to secure your tie in a quirky, but sturdy way, you're likely to enjoy this novel app, even if you already know how to tie a four-in-hand knot or the footballers' favourite, the half Windsor.

The menu is a little basic, but the app makes good use of animation to show the various stages involved to get to the finished knot. Underneath each diagram, text details exactly what needs to happen and in what order. Although the images do lack colour save for the green instructional arrows.
If you press the V button at the top of the main menu, you can adjust the step speed so the instructions can run as quickly as three seconds o' as slow as eight before you move on to the next step. You press the play button to begin the instructional process and you can also use the back, forward and pause buttons in case you miss anything.

While the app comes with instructions as to how to tie five different types of knot, the end result looked the same in each case as far as we're concerned. But then again, we rarely have the opportunity to wear ties to work. A bit of a novelty but unlikely to be something you'd need to use again and again.
